  • About

CHARAC was formed in 1994 by a group of artists and individuals interested in promoting the arts in our region. Its genesis came from the Chequamegon Fine Arts Festival that had been held at Telemark beginning in 1992. As a not-for-profit organization of artists and friends united to advance the opportunities and services for artists and the general public, the organization is committed to the importance and value of art and its creation in our communities.

The Council hosts an art exhibit at Northwoods Health Center; at the Weiss Library in Hayward, and a Main Event each year that rotates between Cable and Hayward locations. In 2014 CHARAC will host it's 4th Annual Juried Art Exhibit.

In 2014 CHARAC will host the 3rd annual Art Crawls from Stone Lake to Barnes and all the places in between. CHARAC continues to provide scholarships to the local high schools; Emerging Artists Grants; Grants for education/workshops; and Professional Artist Grants as well as annual funding of $1,000 to the 4 schools in our region.
